Daniel leads FIA’s investment analytics activities specializing in portfolio modeling, financial analysis, and performance analytics. His role is pivotal in driving real-time decision-making processes that seek to enhance client risk and return objectives. Daniel collaborates closely with all business functions at FIA, including portfolio management, acquisitions, dispositions, and across other strategic initiatives targeting the optimization of client outcomes.

Previous Experience

Prior to joining FIA, Daniel held positions in portfolio analytics and investment roles at other large timberland investment management organizations, working across both U.S. and international portfolios.  In these prior roles, he progressed to eventually assume the role of portfolio manager, where he oversaw approximately $2 billion in assets under management (AUM). Daniel’s forest investment experience has encompassed transactions, asset management, and portfolio oversight across diverse regions including the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and Africa.

What is your business philosophy?

Creating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships built on trust, transparency, and alignment are foundational to the long-term success of any business, but particularly relevant in the investment management industry. These principles, when coupled with an organization’s ability to adapt quickly to change, foster an environment that compounds value for its clients, and therefore itself, over time.

Why did you choose this field / career path?

After exploring various areas of the investment management industry early in my career, I discovered a profound connection with this asset class. What captivated me the most was its tangible nature—I enjoy tracing the entire chain of decision-making processes to their conclusions and directly observing the impact of managerial actions. Additionally, successful investment in this asset class is inherently long-term in nature, requiring strategic thinking and vision—qualities that I greatly appreciate.
