Dan covered various regions, including Europe and the Middle East, developing and marketing structured investment products, private funds, and separately managed accounts to both wholesale and institutional investors, including pensions, insurance companies and sovereign wealth funds.

What is your business philosophy?
I began my career as an analyst for Salomon Smith Barney writing investment policy statements for institutional investors in Dallas. Clients ranged from small foundations to large public pension plans, and everyone’s portfolio was different. Before any product was ever sold or discussed, I learned to first listen to the client and understand their individual needs and risk appetite. I keep that in mind to this day. Every investor and investment situation are different.
Why did you choose this field / career path?
I always wanted to work in finance and international markets which brought me across three countries working for large financial services firms as well as consulting directly to asset managers. Forestry was an asset class I followed over the years and over time, I further embraced as I wanted to work in the alternatives space for a more sustainable and long-term focused firm.
What is one of the best lessons you’ve learned during your career?
Always remember to be fair and honest with colleagues and with clients.
