Toby joined FIA in 2026 as an Investment Analyst, serving on the Investment Management Team. In this role, he supports the team through financial analysis and portfolio analytics. Toby leverages FIA’s extensive experience and data to support the continued improvement of management and investment strategies.

Previous Experience

Before joining FIA, Toby served as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Harley Langdale Jr. Center for Forest Business at the University of Georgia, where he earned his Master of Forest Resources degree. His work focused on evaluating the operational and valuation impacts of conservation easements on working forests in Georgia. Toby also served as FIA’s Timberland Transactions Intern in the summer of 2025, assisting the team with land sale analysis and acquisition due diligence projects, and later interned with Forisk Consulting in the spring of 2026.

What is your business philosophy?

An individual’s success hinges on the team’s success. When the team thrives, each person’s potential is taken beyond what they could have accomplished alone.

Why did you choose this field / career path?

My passion for the outdoors originally led me to pursue a career in wildlife biology. However, during my time in school I developed a deeper appreciation for forestry, land stewardship, and investments. This new combination of interests opened the door to timberland investing, where sustainable forest management and financial analysis truly meet. Our decisions not only generate long-term value for clients, but they directly influence the protection of forest resources and natural landscapes that we all care about for generations to come.
